Brit Star Shines In Europe

Today, Ralph Fiennes receives Europe's best actor award for his performance in Hungarian epic Taste of Sunshine.



Ralph Fiennes has won the best male actor award at this year's European Film Awards held in Berlin on Saturday. The British thesp was rewarded for his portrayal of three generations of Jews in A Taste of Sunshine. The Hungarian film, which will be released in the UK early next year, also won best screenplay for writers Istvan Szabo and Israel Horowitz. Spanish film-maker Pedro Almodovar, meanwhile, won the best film prize for All About My Mother. This is the second time that the 48-year-old director has been honoured: he also won best director at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Finally, German director Wim Wenders won best documentary for Buena Vista Social Club, while the best non-European film award went to David Lynch for The Straight Story.
