I'm enjoying the performance, particularly Bolingbroke. Richard himself is a little disappointing, but The set is fantastic, very exciting. I'm not familiar with the play itself, but Richard comes across as a rather weak character. The contrast between him and Bolingbroke - between the weak and the strong - is interesting.

I didn't know what to expect, and it took me a while to identify Ralph Fiennes's particular reading of the play. But once I caught that petulance, the weakness and the spoiltness, then it rang really true. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

LEANNE SIMPSON

PROMOTIONS PERSON, 25

I've attended a few of the Almeida productions before and was very keen to see this one. And the whole show was simply fantastic, absolutely superb. One of the things that drew me here tonight was the fact that Ralph was playing Richard, and I certainly wasn't disappointed.

DAVID WALLIAMS

ACTOR, 28

I was a big fan of The Avengers and I've loved Ralph's work ever since. He really risks himself by choosing this part, because he's playing a vain, rather weak man. And the fact that it's set in the Gainsborough Studio makes it quite a cinematic experience.
