ACTING star Ralph Fiennes is to return to the Warwickshire stage next year for the first time in more than a decade.

The star of The English Patient and Schindler's List will play the title role in Ibsen's Brand with Royal Shakespeare Company artistic director Adrian Noble directing.

Brand, about the struggle between faith and human will, runs at the Swan theatre in Stratford from April 17 before opening at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in May for a 14-week run. It also marks Adrian Noble' s last production as the theatre company's artistic director.

He says: "I've wanted to do Brand with Ralph for ages, so I'm delighted that it's finally happening. Brand is rarely performed and so will be a new experience for many people."

Public booking opens on January 27 in Stratford for Brand.
