SUFFOLK SONG CYCLE
& OTHER POEMS

Jini Fiennes

I present to the reader a visual treatment of photographs that portray the sights and scenes that inspired Jini Fiennes to write her book of poetry, Suffolk Song Cycle & Other Poems. Each scene that provided the canvas is harnessed in tandem with the poem it inspired.

There is a series of thirteen poems, or songs, as she referred to them, that encompass the hopes, dreams and desires that inhabited her spirit and helped to draw forth all the love for life that she held so dear within herself. Her inspirations were many; the fields, streams, herdsmen, villagers, the wind, sky, sea, life, death and events that comprised scenes from her own life. She has put pen to paper and betrayed sentiments so heartfelt that the words swell with emotions for that which she attempts to convey to her readers.

Four other poems that round out the slim, blue volume present varied scenes from music to a moonlit night. She has etched a rendering of words that are haunted and haunting, and she is a consummate observer of the human condition and the world around her, with no detail escaping her view.

I am presenting the poems and the actual scenes that inspired them for your perusal. I can fully imagine the inhalation of awe and wonder that enveloped Jini Fiennes as she sought the precise creations that poured forth from her mind. She breathed a new life into her work, as a mother gives birth. I think she hoped that others would see the world as she saw it, instilling that sense of life as well.

It is my fervent desire that upon reading each poem that you, the reader, come away with the same convictions.
